I left all of you with a cliffhanger yesterday. I mentioned that I had rec’d the file of my adoption, and that I had discovered that I had a sister.
That was ten years ago. Soon after discovering this information my whole life turned upside down. My dad died, I moved in with my mom to help her out, and continued caring for my grandparents. While I still wanted to know about my birth family, I didn’t have the time or space in my life to do it.

There is a quote over at A Child Chosen from Alex Haley that talks about knowing where you come from. When you’re adopted, it’s one thing you wonder.
Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t as if you grow up with the fantasy of your “real” parents (although that’s what some people seem to believe.) Instead, it’s a matter of knowing what became of others who share your DNA. You might have a great relationship with your parents, or you might have a rough childhood like I did. It doesn’t matter.
