Taking advantage of the current economic crunch, Food Network is rolling out a new show hosted by Semi-Homemade guru Sandra Lee.

Sandra’s Money Saving Meals will premiere May 10 at 12:00 p.m. The inspiration behind the show is Sandra’s “Three A’s:” accessible, aspirational, and affordable food. Not only will she give tips and advice on smart grocery shopping but she’ll also provide “creative” leftover usage.

Bob Tushman, the senior vice president of programing, said in a press release:

“At this critical economic time, Sandra comes to the rescue by providing our viewers with creative ways to save money and time while cooking great meals at home. We appreciate the dedicated passion and in-depth knowledge Sandra brings to this topic, and we look forward to launching this new endeavor with her.”

Though I’m not a huge Sandra Lee fan I can appreciate what she’s doing and the niche Food Network has put her in (and truth be told I’d rather watch Sandra do it than Rachael Ray!).

Sandra Lee to Debut New Food Network Show

Headliners for this year’s Fabulous Food Show in November have been announced, and the majority are recognizable faces!

The Food Show starts Friday, November 13 and runs until Sunday, November 15.

The Show kicks off with “Semi- Homemade” star Sandra Lee and “Tyler’s Ultimate” Tyler Florence, both slated for the 13th. On the 14th Tyler returns with Guy Fieri, and Bobby Flay will close things down on the 15th.

Tickets don’t go on sale until this summer, but keep an eye out if you’re a Food Network fan that wants to see some stars in action!

Food Network Stars Headlining Fabulous Food Show

A portion of that tasty success can be traced to the network’s emerging lineup of under-40 faces — eye candy hired to teach America to boil, baste and bake. Some are so Yum-O! (to pinch a term from the station’s star, Rachael Ray) that they could easily slip into the cast of a
sexy soap.

Some of their favorites? Oh, the usual suspects (read:Giada, Giada, Giada).

Still, mangia minx Giada De Laurentiis — host of “Everyday Italian” and one of the network’s “rising stars,” as a spokesperson says — must believe her personality comes through best when her figure is on the menu.

Even if your idea of “everyday” Italian is dialing up Domino’s, you can appreciate that. And, according to a study by Simmons Research Group, which tracks consumer behavior, about 15% of the station’s viewers say they don’t even like to cook.

De Laurentiis is used to getting gawked at — on her cooking shows and beyond. “People have always been intimidated by the way I look,” says the Rome-born De Laurentiis, who is in Italy this week moonlighting for the “Today” show as an Olympics correspondent.

“People think you can’t trust a cook who’s that skinny or that beautiful,” she adds.

“When I started working at the Food Network [in 2003], I got E-mails saying I was too pretty to be a cook. They thought I was an actress.”

Foodie Beauties

The first one I came across was Paula Deen/Britney Spears. It’s completely perfect in that Britney Spears probably puts the Deen requisite nine sticks of butter into everything she eats these days.

The most recent of these auditory masterpieces is Ms. Semi-Homemade herself and Bel Biv DeVoe. Mmm, that girl is poison. A not so a suble jab at the most derided Food Network personality of all? Of course.

Would Sadra Lee herself be hurt? Probably not, beyond being busy planning her next tablescape, underneath the soft lighting and fuzzy edges, she seems a bit too resilient to mind.

Check them out, you will not be disappointed.
