Swine Flu Stronger in Some Areas

Here’s a confusing thing about the swine flu: it has apparently spread quicker in certain areas than in others. Take a set of schools in New York, for example. Officials have now closed down in Queens because “hundreds of children went home sick with flu symptoms.” Maintenance people are now scrubbing down desks, tables, floors, etc. Basically every surface children touch.
It’s not just kids that have been infected. An assistant principle is on a ventilator, and in critical condition. The schools will be closed for at least a week.

The Swine Flu has claimed its first U.S. death. A 23-month old boy has died in Texas. President Obama has suggested that schools in the area may close on Wednesday for a temporary basis if they have had a confirmed case of swine flu. However, right now officials are watching the situation.
Other countries, including Canada, Austria, New Zealand, Israel, Spain, Britain, and Germany have reported cases of the disease. With this death, the United States now joins Mexico as the only countries thus far with Swine Flu deaths.
