I have been seeing a lot of DIY (do-it-yourself) flowers in scrapbook layouts around the web recently and it has gained popularity from majority of really crafty souls out there. Big scrapbooking manufacturers have also followed suit, and you will see their patented products in LSS (local scrapbooking stores) carrying this very raw, unique take on “homemade” flowers around the world. Scrapbook Layout: Try some violets

The color violet, with all its spin-offs in the color wheel such as lilac, lavender and the popular purple were the fashion color palette of 2008. This color is still rocking the rest of 2009, along with the 80’s fashion comeback. I am not very fond of this color, but would appreciate a bit of its shade here and there. Surprisingly, this color is also making its presence felt in the scrapbooking scene.

I love browsing other people’s scrapbook layouts for inspiration. If you’re like me and need to look at other people’s layouts to get your creative juices going then you might find this layout inspirational:
Layout created by Pia Salem-Lopez. Lovely, isn’t it? I like Pia’s layout because she was able to include multiple photos in a fun and creative way.. I like that she’s scribbled her personal journaling around the layout rather than just focusing the journaling in one area.
Creating a Layout with Photo as Background

Have you often wondered if you can create a scrapbook layout using a single photo as a background?
It can be done as shown here by Ali Edwards. The catch is, you must have a photo editor that allows text overlays or a digital scrapbook editor.
I want to try this sometime. I’ve got gorgeous photos of my daughter that will benefit from just as a simple journaling on the side like this one pictured above.
