I love sketches. When I’m at a loss for new ways to design and create my layouts, I turn to the good ol’ sketches to inspire me.

Weekend Surprise: What about a Scrappin Kids Sketch?

Hidden journalling is a way to spice up your scrapbook layout.

Here’s how Caz did this:

Caz decided to hide her journaling behind a film strip of photos on this busy action packed layout. She created the film strip by cutting a length of black cardstock and then punching small square holes up each side using a hand punch. From a coordinating piece of patterned paper she cut a rectangle twice the size of the film strip, folded it in half sideways and then mounted the film strip on the top. She then printed out a strip of journaling and attached it under the photos.

The black writing in the title was added to the photo before it was printed. The white chipboard is by Heidi Swapp with two mixed fonts. The ‘Go Big’ Heidi Swapp Credit Card exclamation slide has a yellow circle added to it to reflect the colour of the inflatable sea biscuit.

Great, isn’t it?

Thursday Inspiration: Hidden Journalling

Shopgirl asks re the Wishblade Reviews post:

I would like to create vinyl letters that would adhere to my storefront. I have had them made for me by a sign company, but they are too expensive. Where can I find the vinyl sticky paper (what is it’s technical industry name?) and which cutter should I buy??

Matt also asks regarding Wishblade usability:

I’d also need to know further about the custom graphics usability.

If I can’t just make stencils off a common editor like paint shop pro or photo shop, and cut them out with the machine, it’s useless to me. So i need to know what types of files wishblade will use (ie gif, jpg, tif), things like that.

PS: people interested in cricut.. it only uses graphics they sell you on cartriges at $80 per.. and you’re still stuck using what ever they make.. no doing your own.. at this time.

Melanie asks regarding Ria Mojica’s inspirational layout:

Christmas Scrapbook Layout Inspiration from Ria Mojica

Here’s a fun way to glam up your scrapbook layout by using stickles!

Stickles: What is it?

Stickles is basically a glitter glue available in a huge range of fabulous colours that is manufactured by Ranger Industries who state that you can “easily write, dot, dash, draw and embellish on paper and rubber stamping projects, candles, memory album covers and more!” The fine point nozzle makes it simple to apply and control where your Stickles will go. If you are interested in adding a little bling to your project, this is a fantastic product.

Where Can I use Stickles?

Almost anywhere! Here are some ideas where you can use Stickles on your next project:

1. Outlining alphas or designs on your pattern paper as shown here (page by Nicole Drewniak)
2. Make flower petals glitzy
3. Dot the centers of flowers
4. Doodle with it!
5. Make fireworks photos glittery!

Using Stickles on your Scrapbook Layouts

Now that the Northern Hemisphere’s summer is about to end, you’d probably have accumulated a lot of vacation photos that you want to scrap, here’s one way to create a layout of your travels OR a dream about a trip that you want to do in the not so distant future!

In this layout, I especially like the way Jessica centered on the jandals as a focal point of her layout. It is sort of telling you visually that the only way to see Brazil is by wearing your jandals, a walking tour perhaps?
