I have the CARL Heavy-Duty Paper Trimmer and the Fiskars Portable Paper Trimmer. First, look in unusual places for scrapbooking supplies. Don’t just head to the scrapbook aisle at your hobby store because that’s the place you are going to spend the most money.

I love scrapbooking but I’m also a frugal person, and is it just me or does scrapbooking really cost a lot of money? It can, anyway. There are lots of great ideas to make your scrapbooks stand out that don’t cost a ton.

First, look in unusual places for scrapbooking supplies. Don’t just head to the scrapbook aisle at your hobby store because that’s the place you are going to spend the most money. Also, try looking at rummage sales for scrapbook supplies. It doesn’t have to be a perfectly wrapped scrapbook kit, but look for items that could be used in your book.

The thing that I do the most is simply collect things from where we go and what we do, and use them in our scrapbooks. Some of these might not seem like “traditional” scrapbooking pieces (such as wrappers, matchbox covers, and even coasters) but when I put them in with the rest of the page (pictures, journaling) it makes it all come together. Then the pages are not only frugal but also unique.

This week with our Three Doors Down theme for May, we’re taking a look at a very helpful blog in the Lifestyles Channel — Mad Cropper. The blog’s author, Christine, isn’t mad in the sense that she’s angry. She’s just mad about scrapbooking.
Mad Cropper offers lots of help with traditional as well as digital scrapbooking. Christine even does scrapbook product reviews for you.
And right now, she’s having a cool contest to give away a Kodak Easyshare printer.
Visit Mad Cropper by following any of these links or clicking on the banner above.
