I was too inspired to share my discoveries with you, as well as itching to make one for myself and my family, too. I am even contemplating on making some for friends to give away as gifts. Why for?
Currently I’m compiling a Party Planning scrapbook portfolio for my virtual party planning venture. This gives pictures of parties planned, ideas for parties, and resources where the customer and I can find the supplies needed. This portfolio is in conjunction with my party planning blog.

By utilizing scrapbooking techniques, I find the portfolio is more attractive and eye-catching. It also gives an idea of my creativity.

Have you ever thought of using your scrapbooking/collaging talents in this way?

How do you see yourself starting a small business? Why not begin earning extra moolah out of something you truly love doing? Play becomes work, and work becomes play. You can’t ask for more.

I have tried running a small business of doing handmade cards. And the experience is quite amazing. I get to do the one thing I love most which is crafting, and I also get to share my artistic outputs for others to enjoy and appreciate. I find it really easy to manage, since I only have myself as my “own boss” and “lone employee”. But as soon as the orders came one after the other, I also experienced a bit of a stress since I have to deliver and beat deadlines. It is after all, truly handmade and from scratch. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it tremendously. I now do commissioned work exclusively through recommendations. I also have a scrapbooker friend who accept scrapbooking for others. She would discuss thematic requirements from her clients, asks for pictures and ephemera (see meaning of Ephemera via Wikipedia) if available. And depending on the simplicity or elaborateness of the client’s requirement, will make a price quotation per layout.

I only recommend the two options stated above if: 1) you have the basic materials and gadgets i.e., die-cutting machines/ binders; 2) you have the time; and most importantly, 3) you have the patience. Because entering this cottage-based industry, one needs the patience more than their inherent craftiness and artistic abilities. And if you want to go the extra mile, you can set up an actual Local Scrapbook Store (LSS in the scrapbooking parlance) or an online scrapbook store that does local shipping.

To make you more excited about this idea, especially if it’s brewing in your mind already, here’s a lnk via ScrapbookingForMoms.com

I started doing this about winter time as a theme but haven’t finished it. You can use many topics and any size album. Then combine the scrapbooking techniques with your writing.

The Pioneer Scrapbook Binding System is a cool product. It doesn’t look much but based on the reviews I read in Scrapbook.com, I think it’s a must have rather than a ‘nice to have’. I have post-bound scrapbooks and they can be a pain sometimes if my layouts are bulky because of the embellishments.
Here’s an example of a customer raving about this product:

The Pioneer Scrapbook Binding System is a cool product. It doesn’t look much but based on the reviews I read in Scrapbook.com, I think it’s a must have rather than a ‘nice to have’. I have post-bound scrapbooks and they can be a pain sometimes if my layouts are bulky because of the embellishments.

Here’s an example of a customer raving about this product:

These little peices of plastic are absolutely the best! No more messing with screwdrivers and adding extension posts with the Snap Load bindings. Once you replace your posts with this product, your pages will lay better, turn better and you can easily add in more pages anywhere you want. Double page layouts look better together, too, with no gaps between the pages! The instructions that come with the set are not very easy to follow so I’m going to help you out.

Just take out the posts and throw them away. Don’t bother with the instructions on the pack for leaving the posts in place. Now take all your pages and thread the straps through them. The straps are flat and have a smooth side and a ridged side. With the pages laying on the table, the ridge side should face center of the book. I know you want to thread with the ridges faceing up or down, but the ridged straps need to face each other. Now get the mounting locks. Peel off the backing and you will see that they each have a little bumpy snap at the back on one end. Place those snaps inside the album holes where the screws were so that the long end of the lock is facing down for the top holes and up for the bottom holes. Now thread the straps through and press them into place. If you made your book too tight or loose, you can easily adjust them at any time.
