Feedback: Girl Scout Cookies Online

Recently I asked your thoughts about selling Girl Scout cookies online. One resourceful Girl Scout had done this lately and it caused a flurry of backlash and discussions about safety and fairness with regard to selling everyone’s favorite cookies.
Some of the comments I received believed that selling online is the next logical step. After all, so much of what we buy and shop for is through online retailers. But safety still remains an issue. Here’s one comment that reflects that:

Favorite Girl Scout Cookie

Yesterday I mentioned Girl Scout Cookies (in a discussion about whether they should be sold online or not) and as soon as I posted I had several friends start emailing me about their favorite flavor of cookie. The discussion was a fun one, and I decided to share it here.
First of all, most people I talk to voted Thin Mints their favorite brand. I can’t say I agree. For me, Lemonades are definitely the way to go. After all, anything with lemon is awesome and two cookies only have 7g of fat (with zero trans fat).

Selling Girl Scout Cookies Online

When I was a Girl Scout (about 30 years ago), I’ll admit that I hated selling cookies. I was extremely shy and hated going door-to-door. My mother hovered behind me in the car, but otherwise it was me standing by myself giving the “sales spiel” at each door I knocked on.
One time, I ended up knocking the door on a dentist who lectured me on reasons why sweets were bad for people. He wouldn’t buy a box of cookies from me, choosing instead to give me a toothbrush. My mother waited in the car the entire …read more
