What is Tet Trung Thu?

]]> Tet Trung Thu, or the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is an ancient festival that was created just for children.

It dates back as far as 15-20,000 years ago in Southeast Asia and is typically held on the 15th day of the 8th Lunar Month.  It is one of the two most popular festivals in Vietnam.

Vietnamese families traditionally plan their activities around children on this day. Folklore states that parents worked so hard on their harvest that they set aside this one day to spend with their children.

The moon is a central theme (because it is held when the moon is at its fullest and brightest) and mooncakes and other special treats are served.

This year the Mid Autumn Festival will take place September 14, 2008.
