U.S. first lady Michelle Obama is set to kick off the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street with a gardening segment that’s meant to encourage young children to plant gardens and to eat healthier foods.
Obama, who has been working on the White House Garden and using said gardens to promote a healthier lifestyle, is appearing on the November 10th season premier of Sesame Street. The original Sesame Street generation is in their late 30s and 40s now, there are still millions of younger Sesame Street fans around the world, watching the muppets’ antics and listening to their stories and songs in several different languages. So, considering how popular the franchise is, it’s no wonder that one of Sesame Street’s most popular muppets, Elmo, has been recruited to help children learn more about staying healthy amidst the H1N1 influenza phase.

Sesame Street Teaches Good Health

Who doesn’t love Sesame Street? I was hooked on that show as a kid, and for good reason. The show does a wonderful job of teaching children and presenting new ideas in a fun and colorful way. Now, the Sesame Workshop is has distributed 13,000 “child care resource kits” to various child care providers across the United States.
