]]>  I have to admit, I’ve sewn a lot of different things – but I’ve never tried sewing my own shoes before!

I think this pattern for historical shoes from Butterick is too cool – check out those mediaeval slippers in the middle:

]]> I’m sorry, I know the kids have only been back at school for two minutes and I start talking about Hallowe’en.

But think about it, how many times have you ended up cobbling a costume together – the afternoon of the Hallowe’en party?

Doesn’t it make sense to start working on it early?

Luckily, Simplicity thinks that too and they’ve just released a new line of costumes for plus-size women from Khaliah Ali.   Here’s the Chinese Princess & Egyptian Princess costume (pattern #2837):

I’ve had quite good luck with Khaliah Ali patterns before – I especially like that they have easy, built in adjustments for different bust sizes.  I’d still recommend making a muslin for testing fit before cutting into the expensive fabric…
