The exchange made for exactly the kind of storyline you might expect from a medical drama in prime-time, but this particular problem is a lot more common than you might expect. And very frequently misdiagnosed. On the episode, the patient learned that vaginismus, or “vulvar vestibulitis.” But as much as something like “vaginismus” sounds like a made-for-tv diagnosis, it isn’t.
