Single Women May Stare at Men More

This is a bit of a “duh” study with an interesting twist. Neuroscientists found that a woman’s partner status influences her interest in the opposite sex. Really?
In the study, women without sexual partners spent longer looking at photos of men, showing a greater interest in the photos than women with partners.
However, the same study found that no such difference occurred with men. Sex partner or not, men spent relatively the same amount of time looking at photos of the opposite sex.
Subjects included 59 men and 56 women, ages 17 to 26. They were instructed to quickly give their “gut” …read more

Twenty percent of women ages 40 to 44 have no children, double the level of 30 years ago, the report said; and women in that age bracket who do have children have fewer than ever — an average of 1.9 children, compared with the mean average of 3.1 children in 1976. – NYTimes.com
It’s being suggested that career choices and ethnicity are the two main reasons for this drop in motherhood. Personally, my reason is because I haven’t found someone to make babies with yet. Sure, I could go out there and “get a baby” but I don’t want …read more
Little Girl, Grown Woman

For the past few weeks, I’ve been re-thinking certain theories I’ve come up with in the entire duration of my dating life. I admit that it’s only been a decade since I started to seriously think about dating and relationships. Realising that it has been actually 10 years or so that I’ve been in the whole dating scene has made me come up to one conclusion. I’ve been holding onto little girl notions of what love is all about.
“I still often see myself as the same little girl who followed her dad around like it’s the only and most important …read more
Date Me, Marry Me. Which one are you?

Are you the girl that a guy would want to date? Or are you the girl that a guy would want to marry?
Some will claim that one cannot actually be certain about that esp if the relationship is in the early stages. Some will claim that couple will eventually discover between themselves that marriage is the next step.
But here’s the thing. If you’re an onlooker, can you tell if she’s the girl he would marry? How can you tell if a girl is just someone that this guy is dating, exclusively or not, and not someone he’s looking into spending …read more
Dating, Marriage and the Year of the Rat

Overheard something while I was riding in a cab this afternoon and the driver was listening to talk radio. The announcer mentioned something about the significance of the ‘Year of the Rat’ to single women looking to hook up.
In case you guys didn’t know, 2008 is the Year of the Rat.
What she said was that this year is the year that women will most likely marry younger men or, at least, be attracted to them. So, I’m guessing they’re referring to single ladies who haven’t really considered the ‘younger market’.
I reckon this is good news then, yeah? More …read more
Girls are like Apples on Trees

Here’s for the single women who are down and out about their singleness.
Girls are like
apples on trees. The best
ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don’t want to reach for
the good ones because they are afraid
of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they
just get the rotten apples from the ground
that aren’t as good, but easy. So the apples
at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they’re amazing.
They just have to wait for the right
boy to come along, the one
who’s brave enough
to climb
all the way
to the top
of the tree.

Nice thought, eh?

51% of Women Are Now Living Without Spouse

For what experts say is probably the first time, more American women are living without a husband than with one, according to a New York Times analysis of census results.
In 2005, 51 percent of women said they were living without a spouse, up from 35 percent in 1950 and 49 percent in 2000.
This article in the NY Times goes on to list several factors they believe to be causing this shift including the fact that women are living longer than their spouses and don’t remarry – as well as women are waiting longer to marry to begin with.
