Here is a date idea post intended particularly for the men who wishes to sweep their lady love off their feet by taking them on a whimsical date.

A good friend of mine tips us on certain *romantic* places you can take you date to — with emphasis on putting an element of surprise in the plan. Of course, this only applies to singles who are currently staying or living in Manila, Philippines.

Markku Seguerra is a programmer-slash-photographer who is currently single and, quite possibly, in love. That’s probably why he’s able to write a post on five special and romantic places you can take your date to. He’s most likely wishing that he could take his lady friend (someone he’s crushing on) on the said date venues — surprise dates nonetheless.

Without further ado, let me list his suggested places:

Moomba (Mother Ignacia St. corner Roces Ave.)

Dencio’s (Ayala Heights, Balara)

Chocolate Kiss (Bahay ng Alumni, University of the Philippines, Diliman)

Starbuck’s (Tagaytay)

Boracay (Boracay Island, Philippines)

I recommend that you hop on over Markku’s blog at rebelpixel.com and check out his personal thoughts on these places.

Ladies, don’t you find it adorable that there are actually single guys out there as romantic as this guy is? I do.

—————

Additional notes to make the situation a little clearer:

The husband and the single woman were colleagues.

Both were assigned to take a business trip to the US.

Both are from the Philippines where the dollar exchange rate is quite high so it is expensive to go abroad.

Husband is a new father.

The single woman is aware of that the guy’s married with a new baby.

I already left a comment on the thread:

“I can’t help but be alarmed by what anonymous said. I mean I know how stingy people can get but godammit there are limits! Husbands should set limits and single women should practice propriety! That husband should be castrated and that single woman be stoned to death. But, of course, that’s me being conservative and vindictive. I can’t fathom that any reason would be excusable, let alone, be logical!

I’m still single and these kind of things make it harder for me to take the plunge. Gawd.”

It was an emotional outburst on my part, actually. But if you’d notice the last line, that’s what moves me to post this concern here and get the opinion of the Dating Dames readers. I’m not only concern about how this kind of situation can happen when single people decide to go into marriage but also that it somehow made me think that it can happen with unmarried couples who’ve been together a long time.

What would you do if you find yourself caught in a similar situation? Honestly, I think I may react harshly but I haven’t really thought about it thoroughly. Perhaps I feel that there’s a rational way on how to deal with a situation of this sort. Care to share your thoughts on the matter?

Amy Alkon – The Advice Goddess was recently approached with the question of whether or not it’s proper for a woman to ask a man out.
While the person posing the question felt it was not proper and was instructing her niece as such, she was concerned her advice might be a bit outdated.
The Advice Goddess agreed by pointing out several factors:
Men are most attracted to what’s slightly out of reach, not what’s throwing itself in their laps, crushing their yarbles. Sure, they’ll say they love it when women ask them out.

They also love women who’ll have sex with them 20 minutes after meeting them in a bar, but they aren’t going to make them their girlfriends.

Forget worrying about what’s equal or unequal, and stick to what works: A woman targets the guy she wants and flirts to let him know he’s got a shot. If he doesn’t ask her out, he’s either a weenie or not interested. Either way, if she tries to force a relationship, it’s unlikely to end well.

I can’t say that I fully agree – because I’ve been in the position where I’ve asked a man out before. Granted, I believe every situation is unique, but in general, I believe it should be left to the man to do the asking.

What is your opinion? Should women ask men out or should that be left entirely up to the men?
