Living with chronic pain can put a cramp in anyone’s style and even more so during the holidays. I wrote about this last year, sharing a few tips on how to get through the holidays and minimizing you pain in some cases (Avoiding pain during the holidays ).
Sue Falkner Wood also wrote a good post on the topic: Simplify the holidays in a life with chronic pain. I encourage you to pop over there for a read.
Do you have any suggestion for making holidays a little less painful? Please share them with us.

If you have lupus or other diseases, do you know about the Spoon Theory?

I just read about the Spoon Theory, written by Christine Miserandino, who writes the blog, But You Don’t Look Sick.
One day, when Christine was out with a friend, she was trying to describe what it was like to be living with lupus. To demonstrate her point, she used a handful of spoons. Those spoons represented what she could do – no spoons mean no more could be done. It’s a wonderful way of explaining what it’s like to have a chronic illness like lupus, but also others, like fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, even for those who are receiving treatment …read more

Many times I come across a good article or post that is really not worth me trying to explain to you. Instead, it’s better that I point you to the original piece so you can really get what the writer wants you to see.
I’ve introduced you to Disaboom.com before. There is a lot of great information there. Today, there is a post on managing your chronic pain by Dr. Anthony Guarino. I suggest you have look at it if you are living with chronic pain.

Help My Hurt and Autism Vox make a top 100 list
October 30, 2008 by Marijke Durning, RN
Please forgive the pat on the back but it’s exciting for me. Help My Hurt and Autism Vox, another b5media Health & Wellness blog, are both listed as two of Top 100 Pediatric Health Blogs over at Nursing Assistant Central.
I was a bit surprised because I consider Womb Within more about kids, never really thought of Help My Hurt that way. Nice way to start the day to have someone tell you they think that you’re doing a good job!

Welcome to October’s edition of Living With Pain blog carnival.
I had some interesting submissions this month. Unfortunately, some weren’t even remotely connected to pain so they had to be deleted. If you know people who have blogs about pain, please encourage them to become part of this blog carnival – it’s a great way to get more readers.
Carole Gold presents Life and Death posted at McKay Today, saying, "What a not-so-common house cat can teach us about living with pain."
Dean Moyer presents Mysterious Morning Neck Pain posted at The Back Pain Blog, saying, "In this post we review the various …read more

Why am I thanking someone named Scott? Because he’s the blogger over at Health and Men and he wrote a good post on the prevention and treatment of shin splints. So – he did my work for me. There’s no point in me rewriting something that’s been done already, right?
So, if you’re interested in learning how to prevent shin splints (stress on your shin bone that can cause pain) or you have shin splints and would like to know what to do about them, I suggest you pop over to read what Scott has to say: Shin Splints Prevention/Treatment
