Perhaps your biggest problem is biting into a chip, only to find that it has developed a consistency more like a rubber balloon than a crispy wafer. The problem with all of these foods? You weren’t able to keep them fresh.

Photo: SXC

So, how do you keep food fresh? Well, using a vacuum sealer can really help. I have a Pump ‘N Seal, but there are models in the grocery store for just a few dollars that can seal plastic snack bags.

Another thing you can try is making sure you re-close items as securely as possible. Roll down bags and use a clip to keep them tightly closed. If you don’t have chip clips, use a rubber band.

Torn bag? Try transferring the contents to a jar with a seal around the lid. I don’t know why, but snack bags don’t seem to keep my chips fresh as long as a jar will.

Do you have any tips for keeping food fresh until you can use it up?

Let the crunchy and savory goodness from Cape Cod Potato Chips help you celebrate the last days of Summer BBQ, or unwind in the couch with the lovely family watching a movie, or as a partner to sandwiches for lunch.

So what makes Cape Cod Potato Chips good?

The all-natural ingredients beginning with 3 premium hand-picked ingredients which are, real potatoes, canola oil and salt & seasonings with no added preservatives. The potatoes are kettle-cooked in batches which gives it that distinctive crunch.

They use 100% canola oil with no trans fat. Canola Oil has to lowest saturated fat compared to other commercially used vegetable oil. This helps the potato flavor come out naturally.

Cape Cod Potato Chips

A new addition to the Cape Cod Potato Chips variety is the Parmesan & Roasted Garlic Potato Chips. The Parmesan cheese and roasted garlic combo sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

Other addition to the Cape Cod’s list of crunchy goodness are two popcorn varieties. Joining White Cheddar are Sweet Cream Butter and Sweet & Salty.

Cape Cod Sweet Cream Butter Popcorn is light, tender with a tasty corn flavor. The sweet cream butter seasoning was from a fresh pasteurized cream churned to perfection plus a light seasoning of salt.

Cape Cod Sweet & Salty Popcorn will please anyone who loves the combination of sweet & salty at the same time. The kernels are hot-air popped to expand then coated with sweet glaze. Cape Cod’s signature glaze is created by combining sugar and a touch of salt for that undeniable sweet and salt flavors infusion.

Cape Cod Potato Chips are available at major US retailers. An 8-ounce bag is around $3.49, while a 5-ounce bag is $2.69. Locate nearby retailers or order them online at CapeCodChips.com.

I was lucky to be offered the chance to try some new snack packs of organic dried fruit by Explorer’s Bounty recently. I know what you’re thinking…banana chips are banana chips…but you’d be WRONG! These are puffed, making them extra crunchy fun to eat, and the flavor of all the snacks I tried is just great.

I had plantains, bananas, and pineapples, as well as bananas with cinnamon, and I loved them all. So did my DH, and he is particularly picky about his banana chips, being a fan from way back

Anyway, the snack bags are called Gallop-A-Loozas, and there are no added sweeteners or artificial anything added. And they don’t need it! When you start with quality fruit, extras just aren’t necessary.

Gallop-A-Loozas consist of 100% pure fruit that is grown via sustainable farming practices. The proprietary puffing process that is used to make these puffed fruit snacks adds extra crunch and infuses them with flavor. The six adventurous varieties Gallop-A-Loozas come in include organic cinnamon-infused banana and pineapple as well as regular plantain, pineapple, banana and pineapple-banana. These latter two offerings are particularly good news for lovers of the world’s best-selling fruit, the banana.

With no added sweeteners, a bag of Gallop-A-Loozas contains under 100 calories per serving. And because they are made from real fruit, Gallop-A-Loozas provide the genuine nutritional value their grocery store 100-calorie snack pack competitors are lacking. The convenient way in which the puffed fruit snacks are packaged also makes Gallop-A-Loozas easy to carry for healthy on-the-go hunger busting.

Now onto the best way to eat pork rinds/chicharones. Most people would just eat it from a bag. I eat my pork rinds by dipping it into a vinegar, salt and red pepper flakes mixture. You don’t have to add red pepper flakes if you don’t want to. The main dip involves vinegar and a little bit of salt. I taught my husband and a few friends to eat pork rinds this way and they all love it. Try it next time.

FYI, I didn’t eat the entire bag in 1 sitting. The huge bag actually lasts about 2 weeks .
