I think this is a brilliant idea and might even function better if small groups of singles would agree to participate in activities together.  It would offer a more secure environment and would be a great alternative then a Saturday night at home in front of the television or behind a book.

I reckon since everything’s so fast paced nowadays, one of the best ways to find a mate is through online dating services. I didn’t realise the diversity of the said services are until I stumbled upon this article that somehow advertises a company that offers such and free, none the less.

One notable thing about 411dating.com is what the article said about its Faith-based online dating feature. It said that it’s one of the fastest growing communities in the site. This feature also includes friendship-building activities such as prayer partnerships, pen pals and like-minded friends. I think it’s wonderful that they have specific communities for their users, that way people can be assured that they’d be meeting people whom they share something in common with.

What makes someone choose a particular dating site, I wonder? Is it because of popularity or quality of service? Or they just rely on recommendations from friends or family? The reason I ask these questions is knowing that there are tons of sites that offer almost the same services with minimal or no fee at all.

I’m not much of an “online dater” myself and believe me I did venture into this a while back but it really doesn’t suit me. I often face a lot of dodgy characters. I know I shouldn’t generalise but I guess I got burned too quickly. Besides, I’m more of a romantic and my preference is romantic chance encounters or a relationship that’s brought about by friendship.

However, I do recognise the fact that I have developed friendships through “online buddies” kind of thingies through social networks and blogging but it’s not really considered the same as online dating, right?

Online Dating Site: 411dating.com

The founder of a new anti-social networking site, however, is finding that shared hates can be an equally effective bonding tool.

Software engineer Bryant Choung intended to satirize social discovery services when he launched his beta site, Snubster, last month. The site lets members create public lists of people and things that rankle them.

“The whole concept of online social networking was really starting to irk me,” said Choung, who initially envisioned Snubster as a way to stem the often irritating flow of invitations to join networking sites like Friendster and LinkedIn. While such sites seemed like a good idea at first, their usage too often devolves into “an attempt to get as many fake friends as possible.”  Full article on Wired News

Antisocial Networking Gets Hip

It’s just quite so de ja vu-ish since I’ve been encountering this topic for the past week more than 5 times already. One of them was Gayla’s Office Romance Tips a while back.

Anyway, I found an article that tells about the positive side of dating a co-worker, which can give you a nudge toward the direction of giving Office Dating a go. But it does point out some things that an individual contemplating such an act might overlook. So, it worth checking out.

“Attraction at work can create good energy that helps productivity.” The article said. However, nurturing a long-term relationship within the workplace is not really advised since it is known that trouble is not far from happening that can cause damaging things to each of the persons’ careers or affect workplace relations. Hmmm. The latter’s a good point and the former rings true, too. It seems to me that Office Dating should be limited to the non-commitment type of relationship otherwise you’ll be heading to a disaster. Dear me. I think I’ll pass.

Anyway, I’ll let you decide. Right now, I’m too close-minded to even consider it just yet. Crushing is fine. Dating is a different matter. I’ve learned that the hard way.

Office Dating: Give it a go?

I’ve always felt that blogs were a great medium that allows so many to get to know more about the overall person – their beliefs, their real interests and much more.  It reveals a glimpse of what life is like on a bad day and on the good.

When you first begin dating, so many try to put their best foot forward first.  When a blog comes into play, there’s no hiding those little sparks of passion and anger that tend to come out from time to time.
