We are all aware of the fact that salt and sodium causes our blood pressure to become high. The lack of certain foods will cause low potassium, which may cause high blood pressure as well.
A study on the effects of potassium and blood pressure was carried out on 3,300 subjects at the Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Half of the subjects were African American.

The study showed a finding which states that the amount of potassium in the urine is related to high blood pressure. Among African American’s in the study, low potassium was a large contributor to their high blood pressure.

The subjects that did not get enough potassium in their daily diets suffered from high blood pressure. The findings also showed that the effects of low potassium, is just as bad if not worse then sodium on the subjects blood pressure.

An ongoing research that includes Dr. Hedayati has identified a gene that may influence the effects of potassium on blood pressure.

You will find that there are several delicious foods listed on the site below that aid in bringing your potassium level up.
