Solar Cells In Plastic

It is quite ironic. At least, that’s how I think it is. What am I talking about? Those solar cells which would be made of plastic. See, we know that solar cells really help our environment a lot. But plastic? That’s another story.
But anyway, with regards to plastic solar cells, a company, Solarmer Energy Inc., is on the hunt towards creating these plastic solar cells. They deem that such products can be used with gadgets like mobile phones and iPods and MP3s and other things so much so that these gadgets need not be charged to an electric socket.

Now what is sure is that come that year, a plant that would be creating solar products would be operational by that time. It is estimated that during the first three months, this plant would already be on the go.
It is located in Singapore and the company behind it is the Renewable Energy Corporation which is based in Norway. It is a $2,000,000,000 investment but it is a …read more

Extreme Concentrated Photovoltaics

Would it be possible to concentrate the suns rays using some sort of magnifying glass and concentrate those light energy to a smaller PV cell to produce more energy using less PV material?  Well, that’s exactly what  sungri did.   They created a system that would use 2000x magnification.
This new solar technology is expected to bring down the cost to about 5 cents per kilowatt hour (according to their website) which would be competitive with the wholesale price of producing electricity from fossil fuels.
Now that for me is good news.  I just hope such technology becomes available to consumers soon.
