During summer, a lot of people are going out to their backyards for a good barbeque weekend. Grilling, smoking, hickory smells, yum yum, I think I’ll have a steak this weekend. Anyway, talking about Good Old Summertime, what better time to try out some solar cooking.

Check out this bad boy! The gang from the Alternative Energy Zone – which is a Burning Man community that bills itself as ‘free of stinking, noisy, polluting generators‘ (see here) – are the mad inventors behind this rather unique weiner roaster.

I guess cooking your processed meat tubes over a pile of burning sticks is old school. Especially when you’ve got the Solar Death Ray 3000, which focuses the sun’s rays so well, your hot dog will be ready in about 2.6 seconds.
