In case you have not heard of that one yet, then there is no need to feel like you have been left behind. See, this is also the first time that I have heard of such. But it does look fascinating.
I thought it was this tree that had the power to soak up the sun’s rays so as to convert them into usable energy. But I was wrong. Dead wrong. This solar tree is actually a contraption and was just named as such. It does not look in any way like a tree.
Anyway, it is just a concept at present. …read more

So okay. Honestly, when I came across this solar monkey, I was not amused. I mean, sure, it does not look that much of a monkey to me – unless I take an even closer look and look at it hard enough.
Anyway, it is said that this toy can do various tricks, all thanks to the sun. It has got this solar panel piece right behind its head and that is where the sun shines on and the panel then converts the energy for the monkey. With the right amount of energy, this solar toy can now climb a rope. …read more

I hate doing the dishes. That’s one chore I really would not like to do. Now if you are the person who hates mowing the grass, then be thankful for the Automower.
The Automower is a lawnmower. But what makes this one different is that it is a hybrid so much so that it runs using electricity and solar power. It gets its share of power from the sun through the solar panel that has been mounted on its top.

This is not about Asimo. Well, in the first place, that robot is not a solar powered robot. This is about AgBot, a robot that runs on solar power and has been developed by the Louisiana State University.
I find this solar robot to be quite interesting. I mean this one has been given the ability to do quite a number of things. It will take care of your house if you want it to. You would not need guards or dogs to guard your house against intruders of any sort. Plus, if you do not have the time to take …read more

These are cool – Renaissance Lanterns from SmartHome. They’ve taken your standard solar-powered LED garden lights and turned them into old-fashioned looking lanterns wherein the light actually flickers like a candle.
Made of glass and metal, a full-day of sunny goodness provides enough charge for up to 10 hours of nightly illumination. The units can be placed on a table, the ground or hung from an included pole. I suppose if you really wanted to go ‘old-school‘, you could even hang them on your horse-drawn carriage.
They’re $30 a piece and available from SmartHome – product page here.
