Aging parents recognizing limits
Over at Sometimes I Feel Like A Piece of Bologna, Pat needs some advice about her elderly mother:
What I’m increasingly running into is Mom’s lack of “getting it” that her energy levels are quickly declining. She will run errands, try to flip a mattress (seriously!), pull weeds, or clean the house. Then she’s so tired she can’t even talk. She refuses to make a list of things she needs us or any of my sibs to do when we come. Things that any of us could do in 10 minutes, but would take her an hour and risk an injury.

Medicare Primer
I’ve oft told you how important I think is to be familiar with an aging parent’s insurance both private and public.
Medicare is an important component for health care for aging Americans.
The Kaiser Family Foundation offers a Primer on Medicare that looks like it might be a good place to start.
As always, I urge you to educate yourself about it before you need it.

Activities for aging parents
With the holidays coming up, many people will be spending time with family, including aging parents. Perhaps people are in need of inspiration for activities in addition to just visiting.
Maryan Pelland at Suite 101 lists some intergenerational activities that can be shared with an older person.
These family fun activities include an all ages party, surfing the Internet, creating an oral history, and, more.
