If you are looking for a weekend getaway spot that promises to provide exciting times and long-lasting memories, give Miami a shot. Millions from across the globe head to Miami each year to party, shop, socialize and basically have a good time.
Miami Beaches
While there are many amazing beaches around the city of Miami, none of them compare to South Beach. South Beach is regarded by many as the hottest beach in the United States. The beach is beautiful, the people are beautiful and the action is non-stop. Soak up some rays at the beach and get into a game of …read more

Another week on the South Beach diet, but no pounds lost…
I have a net loss of 0 pounds for the week. I actually lost a pound early on, but was dehydrated and by rehydrating I put it back on. I’m trying to stay hydrated to prevent that from happening again.
Exercise-wise, I’ve been slacking. I only went to yoga once this past week, and didn’t make it to the gym, although my job keeps me on my feet. (I used this as an excuse to “just come home and rest”). I’ll try to do better this week and see what happens.
Food-wise, …read more
South Beach Check-In: Week 4

Well, it is my 4th week on the South Beach diet and I think it’s going really well. Aside from weight loss, I noticed that my cravings are much more manageable now that I’m not restricting “all” carbs. Also, if I do happen to eat something off plan, my weight doesn’t spike up like it would if I was on Atkins. My body has learned to tolerate carbs again, without retaining water in the process.
That said, I lost 1 pound this week. I consider that a victory given it was that time of the month, and I always retain water …read more

Hey all. Again, I have been so busy that I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday. But, here I am checking in for my second week of South Beach-ing.
I still haven’t lost any weight, but I have had issues with my thyroid in times past and plan to get a full physical soon. I know, it’s disappointing when I feel like I’m doing everything I can – including exercise!
However, I believe I will move on to Phase 2 this week. I had a turkey, cheese and veggie wrap today – it was delicious! I missed my whole grains …read more
South Beach Spice Bread Recipe

Today I’d like to share a recipe I modified to make spice bread that I found over at Low Carb Friends. It’s made with a base of white beans and is Phase 1 friendly.
You need:
1 15oz. can of white (Northern) beans. Rinse and drain.
4 eggs (or egg beaters)
1 cup Davinci sugar-free Spice syrup or other flavored sugar-free syrup
1/4 cup dry milk (helps to make it rise)
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. oil
Put all of the above ingredients in your food processor (a blender could work also) and blend until the mixture is liquid and thin (it only took about a …read more
South Beach Check-in: Week One

Hey everyone, sorry I’m late with my South Beach check-in this week. I had a good week overall and only cheated once with a strawberry smoothie (it had fruit, turbinado and honey in it so it was not allowed). I have not lost any weight so far, but my jeans are fitting looser so I’m hopeful.
I missed yoga both times this past week so that may be why I didn’t see a change on the scale. However, I am going to concentrate on how my clothes fit and see what happens.
I’ve had some great salads and such this week. I …read more
I Got To Meet My Idol!

Hey guys! Sorry for not posting yesterday or earlier today, but I was in Nashville for a Tori Amos concert. She’s been my favorite singer/songwriter since the late 90s so I jumped at the chance to see her again (I saw her back in 2003 also). I got a VIP ticket, so I actually got to meet her and view a portion of her soundcheck. Here’s a picture of us below (I was starstruck!)
I was at the Andrew Jackson Hall for the concert, and they provided plenty of low-calorie drink options (Enviga, Diet Coke, water, sugar-free Red Bull). They …read more
