Here’s something for those on weight-loss diets: A review published in Obesity Reviews examined data from previous research and clinical trials, and the findings revealed that soy foods are an excellent protein source, and can help lose weight in a variety of ways.
The review, including results from eight human studies, finds that individuals lost equivalent amounts of weight and, in some cases, equal inches of fat around the waist, using soy protein, dairy milk meal replacements, beef or pork at equal calorie levels. Anti-obesity Soya Could Help Prevent Weight Gain, Diabetes

Although yellow soya has already been touted for its cholesterol lowering abilities, a team of Korean researchers have shown in animal trials that the black soya may even be more potent, and in addition, may also prevent weight gain and subsequently, diabetes.
The researchers, led by Shin Joung Rho at Hanyang University, Seoul, allowed 32 rats to gorge on a fatty diet, supplemented with various levels of black soya. Soy Protein Improves CardioVascular Health

According to a manuscript published recently in The American Journal of Cardiology, eating a soy-protein rich diet may be good for your cardiovascular health. The meta-study compiled data from 41 randomized controlled trials published in MEDLINE from 1966 to February 2005 wherein isolated soy protein supplementation was implemented as a dietary intervention.
According to the results, soy protein supplementation helps lower total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL, bad cholesterol), and triglycerides, but slightly increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL, good cholesterol).
