This is only one of them but it sets the theme…
From The Language of the Heart: Bill W’s Grapevine Writings, page 263;
“There are, nevertheless, certain occasions where reckless truth-telling may create widespread havoc and permanent damage to others. Whenever this seems possible, we are likely to find ourselves in a bad jam indeed. We shall be torn between two temptations. When conscience agonizes us enough, we may well cast all prudence and love to the winds. We may try to buy our freedom by telling the brutal truth, no matter who gets hurt or how much. But this is not …read more

Oh boy how we dislike, even hate, God’s waiting room. (Hi Jen )
We pray and pray for something we want. We exert ourselves with an effort beyond any we’d ever made before. We just aren’t sure we’ll get what we want so we ask God to please, please God, let me have this just this one time, please…
God, you know how hard we worked, you know how qualified we are, you know how much we want this in our hearts.

About situations like these;
90 days away from your last drink (sober – not!), involved (thru self-will, against sound advice) in a new relationship (yep, another newcomer in AA), new partner shows up at your front door – drunk. a) That we were alcoholic and could not manage our own lives.
b) That probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism.
c) That God could and would if He were sought.”

A lot of things
Thankfully.
The first one I always remember is;
I don’t care what keeps you sober, as long as you know what it is and you DO IT!

I’ve also heard along the way that;
“You don’t think yourself into sober living
You live yourself into sober thinking.”
A Sober, Clean Day To All,
