Quilting & Patchwork Participates in Arts & Crafts Carnival

I recently realized that Katelyn Thomas, at Stamping Mad, hosts a monthly Arts and Crafts Blog Carnival.  I immediately decided to participate since I enjoy carnivals.  Her January 2008 Carnival is up today.
I participated with my Family Legacies Extend to Arts Other Than Quilting.  It was fun writing this post and now seeing it in the carnival.
Here’s next month’s submission information in case you want to participate.  It’s a great deal of fun.  (I’ve already sent something in.   Just so I don’t forget and miss the deadline!)

Quilting Scraps for Patchwork Gift Tags

As I was checking out Katelyn’s post, Gift Tags From Scraps, over at Stamping Mad, I was stuck with the idea, “What about using fabric scraps from our quilting?  These would make neat patchwork gift tags.”
So often, techniques for one type of art or craft can be utilized in another.  Also, you could combine paper scraps with fabric for a mixed media effect collage gift tags.
Katelyn has given directions for making these gift tags at her blog.

Katelyn’s Paper Quilts

Recently I wrote a post, Converting Paper Quilts into Mixed Media Ones, inspired by Katelyn’s posting at Stamping Mad.  We both said we’d have to try these quilts, Katelyn doing paper ones and I creating some with fabric added.
Katelyn is way ahead of me and has some posted on her blog, Artful Monday – Paper Quilts.   They are lovely.  I’m impressed!

ATCs Popular in the Quilting/Fabric Art World

My daughter has participated in groups that trade the cards the way they do the fabric postcards.  Katelyn Thomas, at Stamping Mad, discusses making and trading ATCs.  She has a good basic explanation in her post, What is an ATC and why would I want one?  Katelyn also refers you to an article explaining how to …read more
