Our theme this week is Space and the Stars. Coincidentally, this is the week the Space Shuttle is attempting to launch, hoping for good weather soon. The mission was scrubbed yesterday due to thunderstorms in the area.
My husband, a former Air Force pilot, tries to watch all these launches. Due to the great online covereage, he’s able to keep up to date.

Thursday 13 – Take a look at star patterns with the names of states.
Have you made any star pattrns? I made the Missouri Star in a quilt for a customer. It was a lot of work, but was a lovely quilt in the colors the customer chose.
My daughter created the Ohio Star in a wall hanging for her grandmother’s room in assisted living. Her grandmother grew up in Ohio.

Throughout quilting history, there have been numerous quilt patterns with the word “star” in them. Many are very intricate with a multitude of tiny pieces. Others, like the one now on our bed that originally I made for my mother-in-law, have larger star points and pieces.
