Is Stella McCartney an Eco-Hypocrite?

Stella McCartney, the English fashion designer, is reportedly in the hospital giving birth to her fourth child today. We’re happy for the not-new Mom and wish her family the best, but then again, isn’t she supposed to be a huge environmentalist? And she’s having her fourth kid? What now? The designer is an outspoken vegan and advocate of animal rights, but she’s also very into promoting an earth-friendly agenda. On World Environment Day, her West Hollywood store was turned into an eco-party, where she told the audience via tape-recording: “L.A., you drive too much. Take a walk. Ride the bus.”

Her advice is sound, but her child-bearing habit seems a little inconsistent with her eco-minded attitude. More »
