Where would authors be without the Internet nowadays to gain name recognition and a following for their books? Many now set up web sites and blogs before their books are published.If you’re a fan of JK Rowling (Harry Potter series) and Stephenie Meyer (Twilight series), you may or may not realize what a power the Internet has been in popularizing their books.

Why Stephenie Meyer is Brilliant
Not only did Stephenie Meyer write a teen vampire novel that encouraged chastity (so parents could actually encourage their teens to read it) but she also knows how to use the Internet and did so strategically.
Meyer set up her own website to accompany the site that her publisher set up for her. She began interacting with her fans. She went to their blogs and posted comments. She wrote personal comments to them and integrated herself into the Internet blogging culture.
Brilliant.
More Meyer Vampires on the Way
A recent shipment of 22 million copies of Stephenie Meyer’s four best sellers is apparently not enough to satisfy her blood thirsty readers. Hachette, the publisher, has gone back to press to print 7.5 million additional copies in all formats.

Twilight a Good Lesson for Teen Girls
I just finished reading Twilight and I am tracking down the second one. It’s a hard one to find in my local library.
I have to say that it was a well written YA book but I had to struggle through it, as I am not too fond of vampires and to be honest, it just didn’t have enough substance for me (but I think I have been out of the YA genre for a while).
