Typical things people use every day that folks could get in a reduced form…

Sticky notes – everyone has scrap mail or paper to take notes on.

Single serve medication – so lame. In fact even blister packs of meds can be bought in bottles instead.

Small single use cereal boxes.

Cotton balls, make-up wipes, and other face swabbing items – use a soft wash cloth.

Conventional cleaning wipes. Use cleaner and a cloth or recycled paper towel.

Paper napkins – use cloth.

Drinking straws – don’t get one the next time you go out to eat.

Disposable paper plates – don’t use ever. Real dishes are better, cheaper, and less harmful to the planet. Same for disposable bathroom cups.

Plastic wrap, foil, wax paper – all food can be cooked on a pan and stored in a container.

Toss away coffee filters – get a reusable one.

How the small choices stack up. All of the above seem like super small choices, but if everyone in your neighborhood used one plastic drinking straw a day, how quick would a pile stack up. What about in the whole world? How tall would a pile of paper plates be if everyone in your own city used just two daily in a month? Miles high? Small choices do matter, so cut out the things that have reusable alternatives, or like drinking straws, cut them out just because they’re unnecessary.

Knock Knock is one of my favorite paper supply shops. Everything they carry is way fun, and while some of it is clearly joke material, much of it is actually useful too. They make a wide selection of stickies. Now, I’m not the world’s biggest sticky note fan – it is paper waste. Still, you can’t help but want some of what they have.

Like their new Whenever stickies. These allow you to mark off desk papers as “Today,” “Soon,” or the best one, “Someday.” The set also comes with some tiny stickies that say, “Now, “Later,” and “Never.” Cool, because you can actually use them, and they’ll make you smile.

They also offer up neat mousepad / paper pads with chipboard backing and adhesive binding on top and left sides. You can surf on your notes with ease. I like their Information Central pad, but they come in other varieties as well. This is one great way to reduce desk clutter since the pad does double duty.

For those of us looking to put off those organizing tasks there’s “Dial-an-Excuse” which takes 36 everyday life scenarios and provides 180 corresponding excuses. Perfect for excuses on the fly. Dial when you don’t want to do the dishes, your boss wants you to stay late, your kids want dinner (wait, don’t do it then – kids should eat). This is a fun tool though.

Check out Knock Knock for more cool stuff than you can imagine. They have lots of organizing pads, notepads with built in check-off systems, and more.
