Scrapbook kits come with coordinating papers and accessories so you should keep it all together so you have a complete kit when you are ready to assemble your pages. Here are some suggestions for organizing your kits:

    * Pizza boxes. Large pizza boxes are the perfect size for 12 x 12 kits and smaller. You can easily stack the boxes and you may be able to get them from you local pizza restaurant for free or at minimal cost.

    * File Drawers. You can organize your kits by filing them into categories. Use scrapbook file drawers like Crop and Store storage files and cubes. These will keep your kits organized and in one place so they are easily accessible when you are ready to start scrapping.

    * Binders. Storing the scrapbooking kits in their original plastic bags in binders can also be another way to keep them organized. If you do choose that method, make sure you are storing your binders upright on a shelf so you are not damaging the kits contents.

Well, I’ve always stored it in the baskets pictured here, but it wasn’t always so organized. I used to throw everything in together: it was a beautiful mess. Inspired by a link on Wendy Smedley’s blog, I reorganized my ribbon onto these cards. Using a cutting mat and rotary cutter, I cut cardboard pieces to fit inside my baskets; then I covered them with kraft packaging paper. I sorted my ribbons by manufacturer, wrapped them around cards, and secured them with pins. Voila! A system that allows me to see every ribbon at the same time, making it super-easy to find a match for any project.

I don’t always have time to sort new ribbon right away, so I hang unorganized ribbon from a clip on my project room wall this is another fun way to enjoy my ribbon even when I’m not using it. Editorial board member Elisha Snow stores all of her ribbon this way. She purchased this cute clip system from Pottery Barn. I like it because it’s very open and visual, she says. I don’t have to rummage through anything to find the ribbon I want. I also like that the clips are removable, so it’s easy to add and take away ribbon.

If you prefer to organize by color, then storing your ribbon in jars may be the best option for you. Editorial board member Rebecca Cooper uses this system. I really like my glass-jar system, because I can see what I’ve got, she says. I dont have to go digging through all my ribbon to find the right piece for a certain project. I just grab the color jar I need, turn it around, and have a quick glance around to see if anything catches my eye.

It’s our 5th anniversary year, and we want to give you presents! So throughout 2007, we’ll be hosting a series of 5th Anniversary Contests and giving away cool prizes. Here’s how it will work: Each issue, we’ll announce a new challenge in one of our feature articles. You’ll complete the challenge and enter here. Our computer will track the entries and pick the winners. Read on to learn about this months challenge.

Celebrate the Everyday. Life is full of ordinary moments. But often our scrapbooks focus on the extraordinary: the holidays, vacations, and other major events that provide a respite from our day-to-day tasks. This month, we challenge you to make a page about your everyday life; then submit it here to enter our contest. Enter by July 31, 2007. No purchase necessary. Purchase does not improve your chance of winning. To read full contest rules, click HERE.

We’ll randomly select five winners to receive stylish scrapbooking storage from Croppin’ Companion. Each winner will get a:
- three-pack of Nesting Planning Folders
- Two-Drawer Photo/Tool Box
- Two-Drawer Embellishment Box
- 13 x 13 x 13 Jumbo Storage Cube
- Croppin’ Commuter Tote.

The Nesting Planning Folders (made from sturdy plastic) make it easy to gather and organize page elements little by little. The large central pocket accommodates 12 x 12 papers, and the smaller pockets hold photos, stickers, and other embellishments.

The desktop storage units come in classic black, so they fit any decor. They’re perfect for storing photos, tools, embellishments, patterned papers, and much more right at your fingertips but out of sight.
