Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

I have a confession to make: I don’t like rhubarb. I’m not sure why, it could be texture thing (I don’t celery either), since the only way I can manage a few bites is if it’s combined with strawberries and cooked in a pie.

With strawberry season upon us, it’s fun to make the treats and desserts that only fresh strawberries can be part of, and tossing in some fresh rhubarb is also a nice addition for most people!

Easy Baked Blueberry French Toast

I want to put something together for a special breakfast tomorrow.
I found this recipe for Baked Blueberry French Toast from the Boxwood Inn, in Akron, Pennysylvania.  I’m going to substitute strawberries for blueberries, though, as they are in season here and at a very good price. This is a make-ahead dish. You assemble the french toast at night and then put it in the refrigerator. In the morning, you pull it out of the fridge and pop it into the oven for baking.
Easy-peasy. My kind of special breakfast.

Sweet Fruity Structures

Sponge Bob isn’t the only one who gets to live in fruit. Although, his house is the only fruity home under water that I know of.
There is another pineapple house. Or rather, extra large pineapple structure.

No windows though. Probably solid through and through.
If you don’t have room for a mansion like this, or the ability to breathe under water, you can always do something with your yard that reflects your tropical fruit side.  All you need is a lot of yellow flowers and some patience.

Or there’s always something like Sergey Tkachenko’s egg house — which personally, I’ve always felt …read more
