Yes, we’re on a bourbon kick here. This time, I tried a little variation on this Blueberries + Bourbon recipe from Serious Eats, since it’s prime blueberry season and all. The cocktail requires simple syrup, which you can make easily with sugar and water if you don’t have (I didn’t)—just boil one part water with one part sugar, turn down heat and let sugar completely dissolve (stirring frequently) and cool to room temperature.
