I’ve had this saved for almost a month and it’s time to let go. This delicious little prefab hails from Jetson Green, but I actually first saw it at Architecture.mnp. What to do? Who to give the link love to??? Well, either way, you win, because both blogs rock. That said, why not visit Jetson Green to read more about the Johnson Creek weeHouse Prefab Home and then head to mnp for a surprise old school post of mnp’s that I really liked. (Yes, it’s a nice kind of surprise, not one of those surprises that suck btw).

inhabitat has a very nice Top Ten Green Architecture Projects Of 2008 round up going on. It’s a lovely read, with all sorts of sustainable delights of the last year; well, except the Eco Spheres, which are way older than 2008 (????) Still, I love inhabitat too much to complain any more about this – how petty of me.

Lastly, those kooky cats at Swamplot are having a big ol’ contest for the Greatest Moment in Houston Real Estate, 2008. If you know Swamplot, then you’ve already guessed that the awards nominees are super fun. In case you’re lost, the nice folks at Swamplot brought us the home with nine and a half bathrooms and the killer wood panel home. Voting has ended, but you can still view the nominees, and soon, you’ll be able to see who won.

A house that’s not all there, wee structures, the green life, zombies, and more…

Look at this, it’s unbelievable.

See all the red arrows – those are flippin’ bathrooms. There’s only four bedrooms! What could you possibly need with nine-and-a-half bathrooms – one of which has it’s own terrace?

Swamplot asks this of the perfect potential owner:

“Do you experience the urge to urinate frequently? Do you suffer from recurring bladder infections?enlarged prostate? And one more question: Do you have $8.5 million burning a hole in your (probably moist) pocket? Well then, you’re certainly going to pee in your pants when you see the exciting floor plans for the two “Gramercy Tower Suite” penthouses on the top floors of Houston’s 34-story Turnberry Tower!”

When you gotta go… you move into this house

Considering the market these posts may occur on a weekly basis or less often — really it depends on what I find out there. From time to time I see Offbeat Homes up for sale but lately I’ve seem some real winners. Hence the sale kick-off.

This offbeat home listing comes from Swamplot and the home itself is located in Houston. But even if you don’t live in Houston; you’ll probably be willing to move there once you see this home.

From all outside appearances the home appears fine, even dull, not offbeat at all. Check out the yard; nice and green plus those tiny poodle trees would make a great topic of conversation.

Here are some basic home facts:

• 3200 square feet on a lovely tree-lined street
• Close to the Medical Center and Rice University
• Oversized lot
• Large rooms, including a family room
• Pool!

But most importantly there is… the wood paneling.

Let’s look at the most attractive room first; the sunroom. Not that I said the couch is attractive or for that matter the fan… or floor. Still this room is kind of light and airy feeling.

One room with wood paneling would have been ok. But they didn’t stop in the sunroom because honestly if one room of wood paneling is good than more rooms are better right?

Hey, at least they didn’t panel the actual fireplace.

This is the best part…

It’s like eating in a forest!

Did they have to use 813 different types of paneling? Seriously.

WTF? Below is one of those don’t ask, don’t tell sort of issues.

If you haven’t quite made up your mind yet, there are some more picture to see that could help to seal the deal.

You’ll be happy to know that all this wood panel bliss can be yours for the low, low price of just $384,777. And believe me you get more than just the wood paneling you also get piece of mind because according to the seller, “This home never flooded.” Well, bonus! I always wanted a home that never flooded.

I know most of you will be fighting over this house but no worries because if you don’t score this one it just wasn’t meant to be. Sooner or later you’ll find that dream home. If you do score this one I’m begging you to send pictures.
