I like to change my work-out routines to keep it fun. I like varieties in order not get bored with my physical activities. If I’m not dancing, doing Tae-Bo, Pilates, or doing my hardcore routine of weights, squats, abs, etc, I usually tune in to Fit TV. I love to work-out with Sharon Mann and sometimes with Gilad. Once in a while, depends on what time I get a chance to work-out in the day, I catch the Yoga show which I love coz it helps me with flexibility and it relaxes my body just like Pilates does. A couple of times I’ve caught the Belly Dancing show. I’ve always wanted to learn it but just couldn’t convince myself to buy the DVD’s. Don’t ask me why..LOL. So if I like these shows, what’s my beef then?

Well the amount of commercials irritates the hell out of me. Too much. Sure they tell you to keep doing what you’re doing while they show their sponsors but geez. Sometimes I sit in my living room floor watching what seems like 12 commercials played consecutively. So by the time Gilad comes back on, I’m all cooled down and then it annoys me even more that Gilad is already half-way done the new step. The time I spend waiting for the show to come back, I could’ve done the dishes. Or loaded my laundry in the dryer and put another load in the washer. For a Mom like me who has too many blogs to write for, a Toddler, chores, etc, Time is Precious. So why not just stick with my DVD’s and other routines then? Well like I said, I like varieties so I’ll probably stay miffed at FitTV and still continue to work-out with the exercise shows for as long as I live. Hehehe.

This month is not going too well. Last week, I was only able to work out twice. I could blame it on the weather, hah. Who wants to get up to a cold morning at 5am when you can enjoy the warm blanket for another hour instead? But like I said, I’ve managed to squeeze in 2 days of working out. 1 day, I did 45 minutes of CRUNCH dance dvd, and the other day I did 45 minutes of Tae-Bo. It felt nice getting back into the gear again. Especially when I did those round-kicks from Tae-Bo. I can be very lazy sometimes but once I’m doing it, I actually find myself enjoying it. Of course I whined the next day for being sore all over..LOL. If you count dancing for about 30 minutes to XM Radio a work-out then I guess I put down 3 days last week for fitness in my 2008 goal . This week?, so far I’ve done 30-minutes of Tae-Bo. My daughter is sick so I haven’t really had extra time to do anything lately. But then again these are the same excuses I could easily fall back on which won’t really help me reach my goal.

I might squeeze in weights and squats tonight while I watch American Idol. *cross my fingers*

I can’t afford a gym membership. My husband and I would love to be in one and work out there every week but it’s just too damn expensive. Plus the time management factor. That doesn’t stop us from doing our exercise though. There are other ways to work-out. While my husband turned a spare room as him mini-gym equipped with basic weights, a bench, an exercise ball that I should really start using again, boombox for music, etc, I mostly rely on my work-out DVD’s. One of them is my Tae-Bo Live DVD. Kick-boxing works for me and that’s what Tae-Bo provides. The DVD has 4 modes. The instructional section where you’ll learned how to do the steps the right way. I recommend doing this for at least a month to familiarize yourself on the propers ways on kicking, boxing, etc.

Then there’s the basic which is a work-out routine that lasts 30 minutes. Once you find yourself comfortable with the moves and stamina, move to the advance routine which will kick your butt :0 for 45 minutes. And lastly, my favorite is the 8-minute routine. An intense work-out for only 8-minutes. This really helps out busy moms like me. I like doing this when I feel like I’ve eaten so much crap during the day and I need a pick me out work-out at night.

This type of work-out from Billy Banks really agrees with my body. It really kicks my butt which I love coz I prefer challenging work-outs. I get bored with repetitive steps so easily but with Tae-Bo’s ability to make me sweat, I forget about the steps and I just got with the flow. And I could feel and see results after a week. Whenever I fall off of my wagon, I always turn to Tae-Bo to lift me up coz I know the next day I’d be feeling it which means I worked really hard the day before.
