Later Start Times At High Schools

Just as I was worrying about how much sleep my teens are getting, our school district was meeting to discuss school starting times for each grade. The are proposing a start time of 8am for grades 5 to 9. And a 9am start time for grades K-4 and 10-12.
The school is actually proposing these staggered start times to help with the congested traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-ups. Our schools are all on the same campus. Letting Teens Set Their Own Bedtime

Since we have kids from age 6 to 16, the teens often get the short end of the stick. If we go to the movie theater as a family they have to watch a kiddie movie (although sometimes they do go to another movie by themselves while the rest of us go to the kiddie movie). Going To Bed At a Reasonable Time

My kids are smack dab in the middle of finals. At least they are supposed to be. They were supposed to have a couple finals on Friday. A few more today. And finish up tomorrow. But we got a couple inches of snow on Friday so school was cancelled. Today the temp was somewhere around -15 with a windchill closer to -30 so school was cancelled again.
