Budgeting Time for Yourself

Maintaining a busy household can take a toll on your energy. Do remember though that the captain has to be fit so he can man the ship properly! Before you get overwhelmed by the many tasks and chores, always budget time for yourself during the day. It’s your way of maintaining your sanity too!

Have the same “me time” schedule everyday. What if you declared 2.00-3.oo pm everyday as your own time? Just as you schedule doctor’s appointments and parent-teacher meetings, schedule a date with yourself. The hour is all yours and nobody should bother you. Whether it’s soaking in the …read more

Female Executives and Dating

I read a piece in Forbes about executive women and the problems that they face in the search for love. The problems stem from several things: 1) A lack of time, 2) A lack of men who meet their dating criteria, and 3) Men are put off by their success.
You know what you need to do if you want to fit a man into your life?  You fit him into your life. You decide that a relationship is what you want and you pursue it. You make time and you get over the idea that his success can’t measure up to …read more

Television & Down Time

Over the summer I’ve not watched a lot of television. We seem to have a lot more commitments and activities than ever before.

Day of Rest

Sunday Calendar

Get up and get self and family ready for neice’s dedication at church.
Go to church. Runs way longer than expected, get called out to feed hungry baby in the nursery.
Buy a paper. Go through open house listings and circle a few.
Eat some lunch.
Drive around looking at two or three houses. No potential.
Race home to drop husband and daughter off.
Race to gym for hour and a half yoga class. This is the part of the day where I can feel spiritually connected to my mind and body.
Race home to pick up husband and daughter.
Go to grandma’s house for weekly home …read more

Brain Fart

So, Saturday, maybe you read my post,I was up early just tinkering about. Letting my husband sleep in. Feeding the kids. Posting a blog. Thinking the day was starting out pretty good, just kind of mellow.
Then at around 9:45 am, hubby gets up and whispers in my ear, we forgot Ainsley’s last soccer game this morning.
UUUUUAHHHH!!!!
The game had been over for 15 minutes.
I have no excuses. I wasn’t overly stressed. I wasn’t really doing anything that couldn’t be put off for an hour. I just plain forgot.
I forgot. What gets me is that this has happened to me lots …read more

The Fire Drill: Plan a Project Properly. Please!

Usually people vastly underestimate the amount of time needed to implement projects. This is true particularly when they are not familiar with the task to be carried out…They forget to take into account unexpected events or unscheduled high priority work. People also often simply fail to allow for the full complexity involved with a job.
It is almost impossible for me to believe that there is anything more true than this in business. Except, perhaps, “if it can go wrong, it will” and “the company’s poor performance affected everyone’s bonus.”
When I am given a project, I tend to over plan…in other …read more
