That said, you do not want to hand most kids a big ol&#8217; knife &#8211; take it from me; someone who sliced half her hand open when she was seven (I was trying to cut an apple with a butcher knife!). What you can do it pick up this little gadget:

<p>I don&#8217;t own a <a href="http://www.gourmet.org/category/Cook%27s-Tools/Fruit-and-Vegetable-Tools/Specialty-Vegetable-Tools/681935">Chef&#8217;n Veggichop</a>, but my pal does, and this hand powered herb and vegetable chopper works pretty well; so long as you don&#8217;t stuff it full. There&#8217;s also a non-skid rubber base, so your veggies won&#8217;t end up on the floor. Get this for the kiddos and let them hand chop veggies to their heart&#8217;s content. It&#8217;ll keep them busy and save you time.</p>
