That said, you do not want to hand most kids a big ol’ knife – take it from me; someone who sliced half her hand open when she was seven (I was trying to cut an apple with a butcher knife!). What you can do it pick up this little gadget:

I don’t own a Chef’n Veggichop, but my pal does, and this hand powered herb and vegetable chopper works pretty well; so long as you don’t stuff it full. There’s also a non-skid rubber base, so your veggies won’t end up on the floor. Get this for the kiddos and let them hand chop veggies to their heart’s content.
