I recently moved across the country, from the east coast to the west coast.  My family is on the west coast, but all of my wonderful friends who I spent all of my time with over the last three years still live in New York.  It is sad to leave all of them, but it is important enough to me that I will put forth an effort to stay close across the miles.

Kerri’s been back from her girlfriend road trip for almost a week, and even after an absence of only five days there is a bit of reacclimation that occurs. Here are a few things I’ve noticed:

The bed is smaller.
The bed is warmer.
The mornings are quieter… because I’m back in the office and starting them before everyone again.
The days are also quieter, but just as busy.
They’re a bit lonely, too.
But, I get “Pinged!” on Skype throughout the day.

Togetherness…quality time….and all that….
Yeah, yeah, it’s important, we know.
But how much time do you actually spend apart from one another?

I have to admit that we are together quite a lot. Bald Man’s job doesn’t required much traveling for him. I don’t tend to get out of town all too often (though I do like to get out of town with friends!). We’re pretty much homebodies, and we’re good with that.

So, this year marked my and Bald Man’s 10th anniversary, and the plan was to take a special trip, just the two of us. It’s almost the end of the year and we haven’t quite gotten away, yet! So, we may be looking into a 10 1/2 year anniversary trip.
But, it has me thinking again of where we’d want to go together. We didn’t have a honeymoon (funds were tight at the time), but were able to put together a fairly reasonably priced trip to Hawaii a few months before our oldest was born. …read more
