High School Musical 2 – Can Disney Do It Again?

]]> High School Musical 2When Disney’s original movie High School Musical debuted this past winter, I don’t really think Disney had any idea of how popular the show was about to become. Apart from the normal previews on the Disney Channel, there wasn’t too much other pre-HSM hype. But, High School Musical was a SMASH hit and the marketing folks at Disney couldn’t just let all of that potential go to waste!

So, High School Musical 2 is scheduled to air on Friday, August 17th. Will Disney strike gold again? Can a sequel ever capture the magic of the original? The Disney team must think so – the pre-HSM2 hype, marketing and merchandising has been in full-swing all summer! The soundtrack is being released tomorrow and the sheer amount of HSM2 merchandise targeted at the tween fans is stunning. Here are just a few of the HSM2 items I have already seen:
