My husband and I just returned from a night out of town away from the stresses of our jobs and the wails of our little boy. I’m pathetic when it comes to leaving my little boy, even for one night. Life’s a Beach

Every mother deserves some down time. Mine, this week, is at the beach with five of my old sorority sisters. I hate to admit how difficult it is for me to leave my family. But the minute the first friend arrives and we load up the car and head to the beach, I’m recovered.

Guitar Hero making kids classic rock fans

My son has fallen in love with the Bad Boys from New York, a.k.a. the Rolling Stones. My husband Rick got the Stones New York concert DVD a few weeks ago for his birthday and he and Truman have been listening to it almost every night, playing invisible electric guitars and pretending they are “Captain Jack Sparrow’s dad,” (Keith Richards). Amazing to think those guys are my father’s age. When Rick and Tru aren’t dancing to the Stones, they’re cranking up U2’s new album and the DVR’d U2 concerts on David Letterman a few weeks ago.

When my friend Cory Jubitz tipped me off to a great article on acne in the current issue of Vogue, I just had to ask her to fill me in on the article. Here’s her take on it in one of Lively Women’s rare guest posts.
