Well, I’ll give Sure Fit this, I’m sure they picked the right winner. Egad. Although, on two notes, I think this couch would fit in perfectly at the wood paneled house; also, quite possibly this couch is so bad, it’s almost cool. I know folks who would love this couch. Sad.
And just what does the winner of this contest get? A $5000 home makeover from Kim Myles, designer and host of HGTV’s Myles of Style and Sure Fit. Not bad.
I wonder what they’ll do with the old couch?

Check out the fish! I could never live somewhere like this. It’s so bleak. Although it’s not like you see black houses every day, so props to that I guess.

This house photo is from the blog, WhatISee. One I love the name of this blog. Very nice and simple, but catchy, no? Secondly, the blogger does see – sees quite a lot in fact, I’d pay WhatISee a visit if I were you.

See all the red arrows – those are flippin’ bathrooms. There’s only four bedrooms! What could you possibly need with nine-and-a-half bathrooms – one of which has it’s own terrace?

Swamplot asks this of the perfect potential owner:

“Do you experience the urge to urinate frequently? Do you suffer from recurring bladder infections?enlarged prostate? And one more question: Do you have $8.5 million burning a hole in your (probably moist) pocket? Well then, you’re certainly going to pee in your pants when you see the exciting floor plans for the two “Gramercy Tower Suite” penthouses on the top floors of Houston’s 34-story Turnberry Tower!”

I highly suggest you read the rest of this post at Swamplot – too funny.

If bathrooms aren’t your thing check out Swamplot’s killer 80s house post: One home, one heavy splash of 80s decor (interior and exterior), and 10 years sitting on the market makes this home a winner – if you’re looking. Seriously, the 80s post was hilarious enough to convince me to add them to my blogroll here. So, go visit.

I was pretty excited to bring the Poop House to Offbeat so imagine my delight when the lovely Heather; friend to pets everywhere sent me this wacky home. Well, technically she emailed me the home — it’s not like it’s sitting in my backyard right now. But that would be fun for the neighbors.

Reuters featured this home on Tuesday and it’s too good to be true. Sanitation activists in South Korean are marking the launch of a global toilet association with this oddball home that’s located south of Seoul.

At first it looks like a boat home but than you fly over it and…

Wow. The home built by Sim Jae-duck is not ceramic (can you imagine) but steel, white concrete, and as you can plainly see a load of glass. Of course the home features four amazing deluxe bathrooms. Personally I think it’s a bit of an eyesore but so crazy that I like it anyhow.

It opens next month to the public according to the World Toilet Association.

The World Toilet Association does some great work for the world by improving sanitation on a global level. Check them out. You can read more about this white sanitation dream home at Reuters.

[Many thanks to Reuters for posting in the first place and to Heather for sending this my way]

Our two newest blogs, Behind the Vines and Brew Ha Ha will cover all that and so much more.

I’m more of a coffee girl myself but still, in honor of the new blogs I did think I might try and bring a little drunken pleasure to Offbeat today. But you know; I used up my one and only alcohol shaped building back on Labor Day. With that in mind I thought I’d be serious for once and address the very real issues of alcohol and judgment.

It’s well know that we should not drink and drive (right folks) but a lesser known fact is that one should not drink and plan architectural projects. You could end up with ideas like this…

Or this…

Or this!

You might even go smack crazy and decide that building rows and rows of look-alike McMansions will make all your dreams come true.

I just love big old land grubbing homes… Let’s take a closer look. This one is awesome!

Yup alcohol enhanced… I can tell.

So, if you promise to drink wisely and think before you build than go ahead and visit Behind the Vines and Brew Ha Ha. Both are smart, interesting, and nicely free of bad architectural ideas — all stellar qualities in a blog.

The love me disclaimer: Before you get on here and yell or try to argue the merits of say, the former PLOT architects let me just point out that I in fact love almost all structures and ideas including other PLOT items. I even love structures made of poop, cartoons, and spam. These building above simply rub me the wrong way. Sorry my opinion. I know there’s stuff you don’t like.

On the other hand, if you feel like leaving a comment that says I suck for hating cookie cutter McMansions by all means feel free — we both know I’m right anyhow.
