Think Teens Are More Informed Today On Safe Sex? They're Not.

In today’s informational world, you would expect the opposite, but according to a recent study, more teenagers today are having unprotected sex and know less about birth control.

The “Clueless or Clued Up: Your Right to be informed about contraception” study prepared for World Contraception Day (which is today) by Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals questioned more than 6,000 young adults from 26 countries on their attitudes toward sex and contraception. Findings revealed that the number of young people having unsafe sex increased by 39% in the United States during the last three years. It also rose 111% in France and 19% in Britain, researchers say. The German pop star Nadja Benaissa, was convicted for carelessly transmitting HIV through unprotected sex yesterday, and was convicted and sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence and 300 hours of community service among the HIV-positive. The singer, now 28, had unprotected sex and failed to disclose her HIV-positive status with three men when she was 17, one of whom contracted HIV. More »
