Natural Vegan Skincare For People On the Go

I am currently out of town, on vacation, at my sister’s house. She lives in Southern California and the wind is really roaring here. I went out front to take photos of her kids and my kids playing ball and when we came in, my face felt so tight, my lips chapped. I packed a short version of my usual skincare routine and I’m really regretting that now.
I vow to never let that happen again. I’m going to find a set of small-size skincare products that are easy to tuck in a bag and go.  Something like Rare2B Vegan Natural …read more

Lovely Lemonade Lip Balm

I’m a lip balm girl.
Back in the day (otherwise known as the late ’80s) when I was a hairdresser, I wore short skirts, high heels, and lipstick to work every day. It was a uniform of sorts and it suited the job that I had and the impression that I wanted to make.
At the beginning of ’90s, I was a new wife and a stay-at-home mom. Gone were the heels, in were the flip flops, and I’ve rarely looked back. I still wear make-up – I see it as toys for grown-up girls – but the look that I …read more

Product Review: Candlevida SpaVida Cool Citrus Basil Candle

I had the opportunity to try a Candlevida SpaVida Cool Citrus Basil Soy Candle last night.
It’s a lovely-smelling candle that is poured into a glass container that I feel is very unique. It’s a frosty sage green and it has a silvered inside. There cut-outs in the green that make patterns on the side, so that when it’s lit, the cut-outs are clearly visible. It’s very pretty. I took a photo to try to show you what I’m talking about.

This season, vegan is in!

The New York Times published an article today about the rising popularity of vegan high-fashion clothing.
“People are more conscious today of what they’re wearing, why they’re wearing it and how it affects the environment,” said Robert Burke, a fashion retail consultant in New York. To ignore such issues “is not sexy today,” he said.
Designers such as Stella McCartney are bringing vegan style to the masses, trying to appeal to more than just hard-core vegans.

Veggie links for 1-Dec-2006

This article about Gary Yourofsky, vegan activist, offers an interesting look into what beliefs drive one to become, well, a vegan activist. Who knew cheese was more addictive than heroin?

Here’s an interesting article introducing Alternative Outfitters, a company that specializes in eco-friendly, vegan, cruelty-free fashion. (It’s really got me tempted to walk into a random shoe store and say, “I love these boots, but are they vegan?” and see what kind of look I get.)

Now here’s something I never write about: bacon. But this site caught my eye, featuring a vegetarian who goes back to the dark side with a …read more

Veggie Links for 27-Nov-2006

This article presents the latest in Stella McCartney’s vegan fashion, followed by an interesting debate about organic wool in the comments.

Meeting vegetarians’ needs can mean big bucks for restaurants, especially in Los Angeles. Smart restaurateurs are realizing that adding more veggie options to the menu makes good business sense. Unfortunately for vegetarians in Fort Wayne, their local restaurants have not been as responsive towards the trend in meat-free dining.

The Vegetarian Society wants you (and the British public) to know that vegetarians do not eat fish. They are hoping to convince more people to cut out the fish with …read more

Looking for a creative new way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year? How about adopting a turkey? I bet you won’t be able to resist Blossom’s charm.

Too much emu oil in your usual facial? Maybe it’s time to find a vegan spa (such as the one featured in this article) in your area for some cruelty-free pampering.

Want to decrease your risk of cancer? Try going vegan, managing your stress level, and quitting smoking.
