Dreamy Bathrooms for Visual Motivation

To end our look at bathrooms, some visual bathroom motivation is in order. In my opinion, nothing else motivates you to get going with decluttering and organizing quite as well as seeing other people’s beautiful and organized spaces.

Well, besides the fact that a TV in the bathroom is totally insane and a waste of energy and most likely brain cells, I really like the bath above. It’s from this excellent article at Kohler – Creating A Kid-friendly Bath. This is a must read piece; not just suitable for kid bathrooms, but full of handy tips for many bathroom situations. I really like it; especially those sinks!

Visualize A Clutter Free Space

You don’t need to visualize the exact space above, but all in all, if you can visualize a clutter-free space, you may have a better chance at eliminating clutter and getting organized in the upcoming year.

Visualizing what you’d like to see in your home is important. Right now, if your home is over-cluttered, all you see and feel is obviously clutter. That’s overwhelming and not great motivation for change. However, if you can visualize a new space, a new look, a new way of living, you may just be motivated enough to pull it off.

Some ideas:

If you’re extra creative, imagine your space how you’d love it to look. Sketch it out, or just make notes about it.
If you’re not into imagining interior design yourself, browse some home interior books (minimalist-based), or look through your favorite home magazines for examples of your dream space. You can even clip images you like. It’s true, you may not get your space exactly like that one you see in Real Simple, but you can work toward a similar adaptation.
Imagine how you might feel differently coming home to your visualized space vs. the one you’re living in now. Do you think you’ll feel more relaxed, more clear-headed, more inclined to have guests over? How will a new space help you?

This great kitchen set-up offers loads of visual motivation. I really like how everything is lined up along the one wall. I usually don’t enjoy this kind of long kitchen, but the shape works really well here. Also the subtle Asian accents; especially including the window covers and wall image are really nice and soothing. So far as organization, you’ve got all that storage space behind the stand-up cupboard.

Visual Motivation – the most clean cut bath in the world!

Our visual decluttering motivation today comes from the brilliant mind of Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon of Hayon Studio. This bathroom design is too amazing to believe. It’s perfectly clean cut, clutter-free, and beautiful. While we all can’t have quite this much extraordinary in our bathroom, we can aim for the simple, uncluttered look.

Ah beauty. It’s the little details that make all the difference:

Seriously now! I hardly believe my eyes. There’s much more bath details to see at Hayon Studio. I am, in fact, utterly fascinated and a little obsessed with most of Hayon’s gorgeous work – from rooms, to art, to toys, to small collections of oddities, you’ll be amazed with what this fella has accomplished. Visual motivation to declutter that dining room

The Hiro Dining Room set-up from Haiku Designs is simple, calming, and not cluttered at all. It still has character though; even though this is a showcase not a real home, you can see how it would work out. I’m not normally a dark wood fan, but this is so peaceful that I do like it. This showcase shows how you don’t need a lot to make a nice impact. Some cool lighting will do and you don’t need a bunch of knick knacks and wall art.

Motivation for Organization: Calm Living Space

This room is a showcase of the Tribeca Collection from Donghia. While not a real room, it’s the perfect example of a minimal clutter space, that still offers plenty of personality. Uncluttered but livable. I love the chill colors and bold touches to the furniture. Very nice.

Motivation for Organization – Tidy Green Kitchen Desk

Our previous Declutter It blogger, Julie liked to do things like “Where’s my desk Wednesday” and “Tame those toys Thursdays” – special days at blogs are cool, but not for me. Ironically, I never stick to organized blog days. That said, I think we’ll be starting a new series here called “Motivation for Organization.” It won’t be on any particular day though. Mainly because when I find stuff, I find stuff.

The idea behind Motivation for Organization is that when I see a particularly well-organized and nicely designed space, it really inspires me to get it together. I suspect I’m not the only person on the planet that visual cues work well for either. I also suspect that my obsession with architecture and spaces in general, leads me to see quite a lot of spaces that may inspire you to get organized. Hence the new series. These will also be nice quick shots, you can take it or leave it (because I know we don’t all agree on design ideas). I’ll always link to info about how to design your own space like the one we’re seeing if you do choose to take it.

Today, I found a really nice uncluttered desk in a tidy little office nook that is part of a bungalow kitchen remodel. The desk has these great shelving aspects built in that can really help you to get your space organized, and the colors are soothing, not cluttering to your head. Note especially how the desk placement works to provide natural lighting. Overall, a great little organized office nook. I would suggest a more ergonomic chair though.
