Not all paper comes from trees!

All paper comes from some sort of fiber. Currently, according to the EPA, the two most common fibers used for making paper include wood from trees or from recycled paper products. The recycled content paper is a good deal, but paper made from wood is not eco-friendly. In fact, the EPA notes that about half of the trees cut down each year are directly used for paper products. What’s worse is that while paper products account for 33% of all materials in the municipal waste stream Americans are only recycling about 55% of that paper.

Americans create and toss out an alarming amount of waste each year. According to the Clean Air Council…

Each day we fill up around 63,000 garbage trucks which means in a year we toss so much trash that if we piled it all up in garbage trucks it would form a line of trucks that will stretch from the earth, halfway to the moon.
A huge amount of waste generated in the U.S. is packaging (one-third).
We throw away 570 diapers per second. That’s insane.

The Biggest Loser Bans Bottled Water & Giveaway

Hey all. Well, the new season of The Biggest Loser is right around the corner on New Year’s Day. This time people will be losing weight in pairs – husbands and wives, best friends, mothers and sons or daughters, etc. One thing they are also introducing this season is a ban on bottled water.
