With all the talk about BPA in water bottles and baby bottles, it’s easy to forget that we also need to focus on other sorts of dishes. For example, plenty of baby food dishes and baby silverware contain BPA, which of course you don’t want your little one munching on. Following are some safe, BPA-free, healthier baby food dishes. Bonus – companies are making super cute dishes nowadays, so you’ve got lots of colorful and fun choices that any little tot will adore.

In a previous post, Giving up on SIGG: which bottle to choose, we looked at the various types of water bottles available. Plastic was one type, but as noted many plastic reusable bottles have many downsides. Many are made of polycarbonate, which while durable, also is known to leech bisphenol A (BPA). Plastic is also made with non-renewable oil, doesn’t keep drinks too cold, and research shows that people don’t recycle as much plastics as they can (the U.S. standard plastic recycling rate is just 24%). BUT some people really don’t want an aluminum bottle, stainless steel bottle, or glass …read more
Giving up on SIGG – which bottle to choose

Everyone and their eco-friendly pooch has likely heard by now about the huge SIGG water bottle drama going down. Yes SIGG water bottles did have trace Bisphenol A (BPA) and while yeah the BPA is highly unlikely to leech into your water the company seemingly tried to cover it up which just might make other green consumers and possibly you want to think twice before handing over your money to the company. I’m not concerned that a SIGG bottle will kill me with chemicals but I am totally peeved that they were sneaky and slick worded instead of open and …read more

So in case you haven’t heard, one of the hottest buzzes around the ecosphere is the SIGG issue. Long story short…
Most greenies love SIGG it’s a valuable water bottle option when compared to disposable plastic bottles. In fact, I have written about them a lot.
Back in 2007 SIGG’s CEO noted that SIGG bottles were BPA trace free.
Fast forward to August 2009 and now SIGG’s CEO (yeah the same guy, Steve Wasik) is all, well, the older bottles DO have BPA, but no worries.
Let the drama begin.
Now, I already posted about this, my friend posted about this, and as to not …read more

Reusable water bottles are essential if you’re trying to go green. First of all, you should be drinking water. It’s better for you than chemically charged sodas and other sticky sweet drinks especially with summer coming. You need to care for yourself first then the planet. The issue with water though is that plenty of people like to carry their water on the go. Many of these folks buy bottled water which is so not earth-friendly.

SIGG, the “Original Swiss Bottle” is durable water bottle made from a single component – meaning it is seamless with no weak spots. The product is virtually unbreakable, making it perfect to take along on any of your travels.
While the bottles may be tough on the outside, the inside is just as tough with a liner made of a proprietary coating. You can carry water, fruit juice, alcohol, nearly any potable beverage, and it won’t harm the bottle liner. Nor will your cranberry juice today taste like the cola you splurged on yesterday. There are no lingering smells or …read more
Green Your Drinking Water

Water is by far the greenest beverage you can drink – obviously it’s natural and free from things like weird colors and chemical flavors. However with the invention of bottled water some of the green factor has gone out the window. Plastic bottled water takes petroleum and energy to create, plus statistics show that relatively very few (about 23%) of all bottles purchased are recycled.
Here’s how you can keep your water green:
Stick to the tap: While not all tap water is safe, a lot of it is. We’ve been taught to think that no water is safe unless it’s filtered …read more
