Feel free to use these images for your personal use, in your journals and artwork. You may use them in any artwork you sell, but please do not sell the photos, as they are my own. There are several photos which I’ve uploaded to my Flickr account. Not all were taken yesterday, but most of them were. Click on any one photo to see it or click on my user name to see more.

Even if you don’t use any of the images I hope they inspire you to get out your digital camera and take photos from around your local area. You never know what you might find and how great it might look as a background page for your visual journal or written journal.

Even though it’s really warm here in Perth, Western Australia, I know a lot of you live in the other hemisphere. It’s cold or at least heaps chillier than it is here for you at this time of the year. Some Upcoming Journal Courses

One of my favourite places for visual journal inspiration is the Creative Clown blog. Today there’s a great tutorial for making background pages to journal on or to create further visual masterpieces. I hope you enjoy the free tutorial and let Zura know by leaving a comment for her. Tools With Heart 30/30 Sale

Ok, so I have been in one of those moods all afternoon. I just can’t seem to concentrate on anything. So, I looked at this and that and just wasted time, like you do. Then I found Dr Wicked’s Write or Die Lab. And what fun I had. I just had to share it with you. I like the idea of trying to beat the timer. I made it with a good minute to spare. The idea is simple. There are no great writing tips or advice. You just begin to write and do so until you reach your goal. You decide how many words and in how much time. There are consequences for stopping, too. Anyway, it’s fun, especially if you’re feeling stuck. If you don’t mind writing on a keyboard it’s great for your journal entry for today, too. Let me know if you play along.

Dr Wicked’s Write or Die Lab

I feel a bit mean not getting this news out earlier, so I’m sorry. That’s what happens when I get really busy. I tend to just scan my emails and do miss things that way. Anyway, hopefully it’s not too late to sign up for Zura’s Creative Clown Fun Art Journal e-Course, which began June 30. The cost is a mere $40 for three entire months of art journal instruction. Creative Clown Art Journal Course

I don’t know why I haven’t seen this project before, but The Happiness Project looks like a good one which would work in easily if you already keep a journal of any kind. While researching online I found the Happiness Project and have been there reading all manner of really interesting things since.

The project is run by Gretchen Rubin, who began the website when she offered some free charts that have helped her stick to her resolutions. The response was overwhelming and the website was born. Rubin is writing her book, The Happiness Project available late next year, but the website describes the book as “a memoir about the year I spent test-driving every principle, tip, theory, and scientific study I could find, whether from Aristotle or St. Therese or Martin Seligman or Oprah.”

Rubin’s style is bright and easy to read and her interests are wide and varied. I’m sure you’ll find plenty to enjoy there. Perhaps you might even create your very own Happiness Project, which would make the author only too happy. She’s given herself the description of “happiness evangelist.” There’s sure to be plenty there to inspire you to write in your journal, too.

The Happiness Project

If you enjoy using images in your journal or for other personal artistic expression then you must know about Ten Two Studios, Go Make Something & Lisa Vollrath. Honestly, I can’t believe I didn’t know about these websites before. I have Hanna to thank for passing on these great resources, though.

There are loads of images to use for free and for a very reasonable price. The free stuff is mostly for your own personal use, but be sure to read the user policies for all available images.

I’ve been quite distracted this afternoon downloading things to use in my own visual journal. I know you’ll find something to use on any of these websites. Even if you just find ideas, there’s something for everyone.
