Facebook is becoming more than just a place to look up old friends and flames. Companies are trying to take full advantage of the social networking mega-site to garner interest in their products and services, and this includes charities that are using it to benefit those they’re committed to helping.
Dogtime.com has set up their own Facebook application to make it even easier and more convenient for people to “donate” to their cause.

In this week’s Lean Plate Club column, Washington Post health and nutrition writer Sally Squires proves that it’s possible to eat healthily on a $21/week food stamp grocery budget, even though Congress couldn’t quite pull it off. Here are the highlights from “How Far Can Your Dollar Stretch?“:
Food stamp benefits, which go to 26 million low-income Americans annually, are given out monthly, not weekly, allowing recipients to buy in bulk.
