Charging Stations – Where’s My Desk Wednesday

This post is dedicated to Robin of HeartofWisdom.com. She just bought the cable organizer and was asking about some organization solutions for all of the cell phones, mp3 players and psp’s. All of these electronics can definitely take over a space and make it look cluttered. It’s also hard to keep up with all of the charging devices. Here are a few products I found that will be a huge help in this area:
Charging Valet for Handheld Electronic Devices

With this charging valet, you can store and charge up to 6 devices at the same time. A hidden power strip keeps …read more

Home Office Organization – Where’s My Desk Wednesday

I really like this video from Closets by Design. Their name is a little misleading because they are not just all about closets. In this video, they show you how they created an desk area for a client. This client loved to scrapbook and do other crafts, so they designed an area where she could do this.

A Note from Declutter It!

Just a little quick note to let all of you know that I am going back to my weekly topic posts. After stepping away from it for awhile, I missed it and realized what a great thing it is for me to have a certain topic to write on on a specified day. I also have received some emails that said “Bring Motivate Me Mondays and the others back!” Sounds good to me!
For those of you that are new and have no clue what I am talking about, lol, here is a list of my Monday through Friday topics:

The Grocery Game

A Where’s My Desk Wednesday post
Last week I talked about creating a Household Information Center. Part of my center includes menu planning and coupon clipping. So, for my series on The Household Information Center, I am going to start with talking about groceries. Why? Well, for one reason, I need to get back into the groove of shopping smarter and doing better at planning meals. Like I said, I am revamping my system too.
Have you ever played or heard of The Grocery Game? I used too be very involved with it and then for some unknown reason to me, I stopped. …read more

Do You Have a Household Information Center?

A Where’s My Desk Wednesday Post
Do you have one area where you keep all the information related to running your house? For example: the family calendar, meal planning, mail and paper, bill paying, etc.
If not, what are you doing to keep up with your family’s activities and meals and bills and all of that stuff that is necessary to keep up with? Is your system working or not working and if it’s not, why?
I feel that having one area for household information is very necessary for me. You may not feel that you need this and every one is wired …read more

Organizing Mail Clutter

A Where’s My Desk Wednesday  post
Now that I am back on track with my blog (which feels SO good by the way!!), I am going to start answering some reader questions that I have been getting. On my last Where’s My Desk Wednesday I talked about Creating an Efficient System for Mail, both physical mail and email. Today I will talk about physical mail.
Susan Gunelius of BrandCurve made this comment:
Mail clutter is one of my biggest organization problems. I’ve tried many systems to keep the clutter to a minimum and avoid using the kitchen table as a flat filing cabinet, but alas, …read more

Creating an Efficient System for Mail

This is a Where’s My Desk Wednesday Post.
For the next couple of Where’s My Desk Wednesday posts, I will cover the problem of mail. We will learn how to deal with physical mail and email.
Mail is one of the biggest clutter problems. Physical mail clutters up your counter tops, coffee tables, kitchen tables and night stands. Electronic mail clutters up your computer. Both types of mail, if not dealt with, clutter up your mind and waste valuable time.
Mail does not have to be a stressful thing. You just need a simple system and when you get the system in place, …read more

Where’s My Desk Wednesday/Arrangement and Categories

Before we get into the different filing categories, let’s go over the task of arranging your office furniture so it makes filing much easier.
It’s best to have a small filing cabinet that you store everyday files in, within arms reach from your desk. If you are constantly having to get up to file your papers, 9 times out of 10 you will stack it on your desk to “file later”.
If you have a large number of papers that you file on a daily basis, put your filing cabinets on the same side of the room as your desk. If all …read more

Where’s My Desk Wednesday/Filing Categories

Last Where’s My Desk Wednesday , we started the first part of creating a filing system that actually works for you. I was going to dig into arranging your office, choosing the right filing products and categories this week, but…I am just dead tired and have absolutely no brain power today. I’m afraid whatever I ended up writing would not make a lick of sense. So, I will pick that up next week. But don’t worry, I am not going to leave you empty handed.
Thanks to my friend Greshen, over at Home Filing Made Easy, she has provided us with some …read more
